:: Basic Sailing Course ::
finally home early enough for a quick write in here... finished up Day 2 of the sailing course at the SAFYC (2 down, 6 more to go!)... it was hilarious!!! all them adults sailing the Laser Picos (sad, sad boats, really... anyone who has sailed them will tell the same story) and the way they sailed!!! in the beginning that is... as i mentioned to Doris, we really should videotape beginner sailors in action... best comic relief ever!!! not that i'm poking fun at them, i mean... i probably started out the same way, too... in fact, i know i did!! but it's still fun to watch others doing it!! i mean... no need to mention names (not that i could, even if i wanted to...), but, man! hahahaha... the way they tack, switch tacks, and hike!!! hahaha... i'm gonna bring my camera next week, and i'll try to take a few shots... so cute!!!! and innovative!! they were all over the place... and i mean that in the literal sense... almost all of them sailed off the course we set for them, and Doris and i had to chase after them!! hahahaha... but towards the end... all 7 boats were on course... and sailing pretty decently! for their first day of real sailing, that is... they were good! *happy sigh* this is the part of coaching that i love... when you see your students acheiving something you taught them... in our case, capsize drills and staying on course... and capsize drills they did!! hahahaha... practiced it many times, too, s'matter of fact... they're pros at it now! cheers to all 17 of them!!
