Say it right then, out loud, otherwise the moment...
just passes you by.'

so anyway, i was watching 'My Best Friend's Wedding' on DVD. after the crazy week that i've had (LATE, like 2am late, night mon - thurs, and Elaine's farewell/fundraiser at bQ bar), noone should be surprised that i decided to stay in on a saturday night, where i now have time to do a little blogging...
back to the movie... it's been so long since i last watched it that i forgot how much i loved it! not quite the classic chick flick with your happy-ever-afters... but i disagree... julia roberts did have her happy ending, sorta... she found a true friend. the gay one. not that bimbo one. i mean, seriously, how many of us can honestly say we have a friend like George (Rupert Everett)??
don't get me wrong. i'm happy with my plot in life. i've got my own little support group, people i know i can count on in my moment of need... ones who will always make time for me when i need them, and vice versa... people who will not hesitate to tell me the truth to my face, because they love me enough to give it to me straight... it's not alot of them... but i've always been one to stick with a small group of people. it may be hard to believe, but i'm quite anti-social (or as some prefer to call it - snobbish *makes face*) when it comes to meeting new people... and if my job didn't require me to socialise a bit, i couldn't be bothered to look like the social butterfly.
i have a point, but question is, am i getting to it?? well, i guess what i'm trying to say is... every girl needs to have a gay friend! just like George. someone who can give you a guy's perspective, albeit a bit bias, but still helpful. someone who knows how you feel, yet also knows the where the other side is coming from. someone who can give it to you straight, but yet will stand behind you and support your decision, no matter how bad, or absurb, or uneithical (as far as womens' code of conduct goes), because he also know how you rationalise things.
i want one too. does anyone know where i can find one? sigh.
ahh well... that's my take on it. i'm not quite sure where that came from. it just sprang to mind. and although the quote from the movie doesn't quite fit with the theme of the above, it's a quote that i really like. another one i like is also from a julia roberts' movie (the one with hugh grant, and the bit about being just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her blah blah blah), but i digress. anyway, you can probably guess i'm just writing whatever mish-mash is coming to mind, and everything doesn't really seem to flow...
well, it's been a busy busy week, but talking about work is always boring, so a quick summary would be that i fixed 2 ships (in normal speak, wld mean 2 concluded deals) in the last week, with one more in the works to be picked up again on monday *fingers crossed*... so all is good, can't complain. Shanghai is still in the pipeline... but will leave it at that for now...
so anyway, Jangan Main Main (JMM for short, or Don't Play Play in english), the boat that i sail on, just got her new suit of sails - by just i actually meant in early july, but what the hey?! hehe... anyway, she hasn't been performing... which is of course totally frustrating, since we're getting creamed after spend over $5,000 on the new sails!! so Sea Yean, Li Chin, Hannes and I spent all saturday down at the club re-tuning the boat, which was aLOT harder work than i expected to be. measuring, re-measuring, and yet again and again and again until we felt it was okay, and still more needs to be done! grrrr... but hopefully what we did today is going to improve boat speed tomorrow for day 2 of the western curcuit regatta. *fingers still crossed*
but before that, have to fill the tummy first. as usual, we met at East Ocean for Dim Sum, which is always yummy. arrived early, so went or a bit of a shop at a cd store, and came out with 3 CDs. the new one by Pink Martini called 'Hang On Little Tomato' which is so cute in itself! hahah.. and 2 brazilian compilations... woot! listening to them as i speak... and no regrets buying at all!! they're great!
on a last nite, i broke a nail while on the boat today. ouch!!!
